Playmakers Racing 7th of 45 teams at USATF nationals |

The Playmakers Men's Racing Team finished seventh of 45 teams in the USA Track and Field National Club Cross Country Championships on Saturday, Dec. 10, in Seattle.
Jed Christiansen fiinished in 22nd place in a 10-kilometer (6.2-mile) time of 30 minutes, 29 seconds, Zach Ripley 29th in 30:41, Curtis Vollmer 53rd in 31:02, Kris Koster 72nd in 31:28, Alex Russeau 85th in 31:44, Nick Katsefaras 86th in 31:46, Jason Bigelow 139th in 32:36, Jake Crowe 140th in 32:36 and Eric Loveland 177th in 33:15. Playmakers Racing Team member Jed Christiansen qualifies for U.S. Olympic Marathon Trials; Playmakers Racing teams won four of five relay categories at Detroit Free Press Marathon |

Jed Christiansen of the Playmakers Racing Team ran a career-best time of 2 hours, 18 minutes, 31 seconds in the Chicago Marathon earlier this month to qualify for the U.S. Olympic Trials. The 2010 Calvin College graduate from Greenville, Pennsylania, took 14th place as the third American finisher and ran a 5:18 per mile pace. The 2012 U.S. Olympic Marathon Trials are scheduled for January 14 in Houston, Texas. At Calvin, Christiansen was a four-time cross country All-American and a four-time track and field All-American. Christiansen is currently an assistant cross country coach at Thiel College in Greenville, Pa.

The Playmakers Racing men’s team finished 13th of 45 teams at the USA Track and Field National Club Cross Country Championships on Dec. 11 at Charlotte, N.C. Jed Christiansen took 48th in a 10-kilometer (6.2-mile) time of 30 minutes, 52 seconds, Zach Ripley (31:24) 72nd, Kris Koster (31:30) 81st, Nick Katsefaras (31:37) 91st, Jason Bigelow (32:23) 145th, Jake Crowe (32:36) 166th, Addis Habtewold (33:34) 226th and Grant Robison (33:51) 241st. The Playmakers Racing Women’s Elite Team took 25th of 29 teams on a 6K (3.7-mile) course. Amanda DiPaolo (22:29) was 136th, Becca Rudey (22:49) 163rd, Shannon Audretsch (23:46) 203rd, Christine Vincent (24:30) 219th, Sara Lunning (24:54) 227th, Jamie Latimer (24:55) 228th and Marcia Backstrom (25:17) 235th. The Playmakers Racing men’s masters (over age 40) team came in 10th of 23 teams. Dan Dixon (34:33) finished 13th in 45-49, Steve Menovcik (34:36) 27th in 40-44, Brad Abendroth (34:36) 28th in 40-44, Hank Risley (36:13) 57th, J.D. Pepper (36:21) 36th in 45-49, Tim Becker (36:55) 66th in 40-44, Mike Homan (37:13) 41st in 45-49 and David Wisner (40:14) 87th in 40-44. The Playmakers Racing Women’s Elite masters team wound up 13th of 16 teams. Martha Olsen (25:37) took 14th in 45-49, Lori Morris (29:03) 15th in 50-54, Janet Barber (29:29) 16th in 50-54, Sharon Dolan (30:08) 1st in 65-69, and Chere Pepper (32:29) 30th in 45-49.

Playmakers Racing wins marathon relay; Stanko first in half-marathon |

The Playmakers Racing Team won the Detroit Free Press Marathon Relay in a time of 2 hours, 17 minutes and 19 seconds on Oct. 17. Relay members were Jason Bigelow of Auburn Hills, Jake Crowe of Grand Ledge, Anthony Filipec of Clio, Addis Habtewold of Lansing and Nick Katseferas of East Lansing.
Defending marathon champion Nick Stanko of Haslett won the half-marathon in 1:06:17, while Playmakers Racing Team members Chris Stoddard of Bath and Adam Izer of Lincoln Park finished 17th in 1:13:51 and 30th in 1:18:34, respectively.
Another member of the Playmakers Racing Team, Jake Flynn of Lansing, finished sixth in the marathon in 2:42:04.
For the Playmakers Women's Elite Training Team, Lanni Marchant of Okemos finished runner-up in the half-marathon in 1:15:04.
