Playmakers Greater Lansing Race Series
Mint City, Lansing Legislator, BWL photos, more available to view

A Lansing State Journal story is available to view along with pictures taken by Dane Robison of Time Frame Photography and by Ike Lea plus Mint City 10-miler/5K results from Aug. 7. Kevin Smith of Gaylord (54:02), Morsi Rayyan of St. Johns (54:38) and Devin Lea of Grand Ledge (54:42) were the top three male finishers and Sara Lunning of Lansing (1:09:56), Sarah Sandborn of Portland (1:11:05) and Kristen Eichorn of East Lansing (1:12:05) the top three female finishers in the 10-mile. The 10-mile was part of the Playmakers Greater Lansing Race Series for the first time this year. Overall winners in the non-race series 5K were Alex Salemi of St. Johns (16:46) and Emily Johnston of Lansing (19:38).

 

The photo to the right of 88-year-old Mignon Emmert of Louisville finishing the 5K on her birthday was taken by Ike Lea.

 

Photos were also taken at the Aug. 8 Lansing Legislator Triathlon/Duathlon by Dane Robison of Time Frame Photography and at the Aug. 14 Board of Water and Light Hometown Power 5K by Dane Robison of Time Frame Photography.

 

Playmakers Greater Lansing Race Series points had been updated after the first nine events:

Ele's Race 5K photos, results, more

A story from the Lansing State Journal and pictures taken by Time Frame Photography are now available to view along with Playmakers photos and results from the Ele's Race 5K for Grieving Children on July 25.

 

The picture of Haslett High School cross country and track coach Nick Stanko setting a course record at the Ele's Race 5K for Grieving Children appears courtesy of Time Frame Photography. The 2009 Detroit Free Press Marathon champion completed the 3.1-mile course which started and finished near the Jackson National Life Insurance Headquarters building in 14 minutes, 53 seconds.

 

Alicia Patterson of DeWitt (19:10) edged Marcia Backstrom of East Lansing (19:15) and Shannon Audretsch of East Lansing (19:21) for the female overall title among 1,130 finishers.

Chris Stoddard of Bath pulled away from defending champion Dan Lucas of Grand Ledge in the last half-mile to win.

The first of 380 finishers, Stoddard completed the 3.1-mile course that started and finished near the Michigan State University Auditorium in East Lansing in 16 minutes, 17 seconds. Lucas (16:30) and Stoddard had earlier separated from a pack that included third-place finisher and masters (over age 40) champion Eric Stuber of Lansing (16:46) and Cooley Law School Race for Education 5K champion Michael Stewart of Mason (16:48).

Frequent masters champion Christine Vincent of Jackson (19:42) was the female overall winner, and frequent grandmasters (age 50 and over) champion Sharon Dolan of Westphalia (22:36) then was able to earn the masters trophy and allow Maggy Zidar of Pontiac (23:41) to claim the female grandmasters trophy.

Following Vincent in the female top 10 were Ashley Steers of Stockbridge (20:52), Audrey Tremaine of Jackson (20:57), Sydney Tremaine of Jackson (21:21), Kristina Donley of Potterville (21:33), Jessie Rhodes of Grand Ledge (22:02), Dolan, Brandi Witter of Perrinton (22:50), Catherine Swiderski of Lansing (22:50) and Heidi Frei of Lansing (22:54).

Fifth through 10th overall were Clinton Lawhorne of Morrice (17:32), Tim Becker of Fowler (17:34), Jimmy Hicks of East Lansing (17:48), Christian Ruehmer of Mount Pleasant (18:07), male grandmasters champion Dale Hool of Jackson (18:08) and Jeffrey Jones of Mason (18:31).

 
Cooley Law School Race for Education 5K results, link to photos

Michael Stewart of Mason passed the mile mark in 5:14 and in seventh place, about nine seconds behind the lead pack. He moved up to fourth at the two-mile mark, and surged from there to win in 16:38. masters (over age 40) champion Eric Stuber (16:45) finished runner-up in front of the State Capitol in downtown Lansing on a warm night.

Leah Scharl of Clarkston (18:44) was the female overall winner among 564 finishers in the sixth event of the 2010 Playmakers Greater Lansing Race Series.
