Spalsbury returns to coach Grand Ledge, for Shore to Shore Relay |
|
After former Grand Ledge High and Michigan State star Andy Marsh decided not to take over as the Grand Ledge High School cross country coach due to increased work responsibilities and another successor could not be found, Kim Spalsbury decided to come out of retirement and coach the Comets one more year. Spalsbury, who coached Fowler teams to multiple state titles before taking over at Grand Ledge in 1996, led his team on July 26 and 27 in its 13th annual Shore to Shore Relay for Multiple Sclerosis event. Each athlete ran four or five 5-mile segments on back roads from Holland State Park to Lakeport State Park near Saint Clair. The Comets ran through downtown Grand Ledge on Monday evening, July 26. The 220-mile event has raised over $11,000 for the MS Society over the past 12 years. Interested donors are encouraged to contact Spalsbury at (517) 627-2034 or
